Upcoming Changes to COVID-19 Safety Measures
On February 3, 2025, COVID-19 workplace regulations under California Code Section 3205 will expire.
Since the pandemic, UC Davis has worked to ensure compliance with CA regulations by investigating and responding to COVID-19 cases, advising on isolation, quarantine, and masking, and keeping workplace health records.
Starting February 3, these requirements will end, and several key measures will change:
- Reporting and Notifications: UC Davis will no longer be required to report COVID-19 cases to public health authorities, nor will employees receive notifications of potential workplace exposures. The COVID-19 self-reporting portal in Health-e-Messaging will be closed to students and employees.
- Isolation and Quarantine: UC Davis will no longer mandate isolation or quarantine for affected employees or students.
- Face Coverings: UC Davis will no longer provide specific masking guidelines.
What This Means for You
After February 3, our community will be encouraged to follow best practices for preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses. This includes staying home when sick, wearing a mask if symptoms arise, and maintaining good hygiene practices.
